Dr Darryl was disappointed with Victoire’s seventh overall and fifth in Division O in the 2014 Land Rover Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race. The perfectionist plastic surgeon won IRC Division 0 in the 2013 race, shortly after buying the yacht previously known as Jazz and Quantum Racing. He went on to win the 2013 Rolex Sydney Hobart overall, and in the process, he and team mates Patrice and Wild Rose won the reignited Southern Cross Cup.

Victoire won the 2014 Gosford Lord Howe Island race and was second on line. In December 2011, Hodgkinson was named Ocean Racing Rookie of the Year and in a first, a year later was named Ocean Racer of the Year on winning the 2011/2012 BWPS and successfully defending his class victory at the 2012 IRC Australian Championship with his previous Victoire, a Beneteau 45. Dr Darryl says he is looking forward to the race to the Gold Coast and the CYCA’s offshore season, including the Blue Water Pointscore in which he finished fourth last season and second to Wild Rose the previous season.
