Pretty Fly III

Sixth on line in last year’s Land Rover Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race, fifth overall and second overall in ORCi, the canting keeled Pretty Fly III is usually up amongst it. Her greatest foe is the other canting Cookson 50, Victoire, with which she has an ongoing rivalry and will do so again in this race, as well as the TP52s entered. Colin and Gladys Wood took a break from ocean racing, instead cruising for 12 months, during which time they competed in and broke the Coral Coast Race record, re-igniting the ocean racing bug. Pretty Fly III, the third racing boat of the same name owned by the Woods’, returned to offshore racing in the 2013 Rolex Sydney Hobart and finished 14th on line, 10th overall and second in division behind the overall race winner, Victoire. Last year she finished 44th overall and won Division O, beating Victoire, but her best Hobart performance was fourth overall in 2010.
