Laurence Freedman has campaigned his yacht out of the CYCA over a number of years, but has not contested the Gold Coast race for some time; his last was in 2008, with a 36th overall and sixth in division. Espresso Forte finished second under PHS in the SSORC last November and was second under PHS in January’s Club Marine Pittwater to Coffs Yacht Race – a good cranking up for the  Land Rover Sydney Gold Coast race ahead. Freedman was awarded an Order of Australia in 2001 for Service to the Community, Medical Research, Arts and to Business and Investment in Australia. His philanthropic beneficiaries include young Australians whom he supports in many areas, including introducing Western Sydney youngsters to sailing through the Freedman Foundation.
