MRZ competes strongly with the 38ft yacht size and is a regular competitor in the CYCA’s northern races. Best results include a 5th overall in the Sydney Mooloolaba (2003) and 7th overall in the Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race (2005). MRZ is best suited to running and reaching conditions and light and variable winds, history showing the latter is traditionally what the fleet can expect for the final stages of the race as they reach the far NSW north coast and cross into Queensland waters - the reason the course record has stood for eleven years.
