STAY CALM

Stay Calm Hungary skipper determined to make a successful comeback

news

Roni Ormandlaki and his Stay Calm Hungary crew are back on deck following their short-lived Rolex Sydney Hobart mission – and the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast marks an important part of their road to recovery.

“[The 2018 Rolex Sydney Hobart] got a bit short for us – it’s not really [disappointing], sometimes things break,” Ormandlaki, the owner of Roni Rigging & Racing, says.

“We broke our mast because we had some difficulties on board and the kite sheet override… we had to give up.”

But the giving up proved only temporary – Ormandaki and his crew bouncing back to go again this season.

“Now we have a new a new mast and this race, the [Noakes Sydney Gold Coast] is our preparation for the Hobart. We have much more time to prepare now,” he says.

“We won’t push the boat very hard – it’s a fine-tuning test run for us, but an important one too.

We put up everything to the Hobart, we have the whole year to prepare, the [Audi Centre Sydney] Blue Water series, the twilights and this one – we’re excited about what’s ahead.”
