Nautical Circle last contested this race in 2013 under Ian Prentice, finishing 20^th overall for ninth in Division 3. In 2012 he finished 41^st overall and 10^th in Division 3. Her only other Gold Coast race was in 2010, when Matthew Prentice skippered her to 50^th overall and 14^th in Division 3. Nautical Circle also entered the 2010 Rolex Sydney Hobart, but retired with engine problems, but went on to finish 40^th overall in 2013. An Archambault 40, she was designed to be a good all-rounder and has the ability to make the podium.
