Sailed by the Hawthorn family, inclusive of Robin and Annette’s three sons at various times (Campbell will be aboard for this race), Imagination has only poked her head north in this race once before, in 2009 when she finished eighth overall and fourth in Division 3. Son Hamish skippered the well-sailed Beneteau 47.7 to 10^th overall and second in Division 3 and sixth in ORCi to Hobart last year, as Robin suffered a heart attack prior to the race. It was Imagination’s second best result from three Hobarts; her best was ninth overall in 2009. The boat lit up again to win the 2015/2016 Grant Thornton Combined Pointscore, counting three wins from six races in her score after winning the Short Ocean Pointscore under PHS (the major trophy) and IRC. Recovered, Robin is back behind the wheel.
