Queenslander Stephanie Kerin is the lone female owner in the fleet, and this will be her first Sydney Gold Coast race, and amazingly it will also be Dekadence’s first. This boat has bounced around from initial owner, Victorian Phil Coombs (who raced her in most the major events, including the Melbourne Osaka Double Handed race) to Tasmanian David Creese, back to Melbourne to Ken Simpson. Queenslander Kerin purchased her and raced at local majors and took on her first Sydney Hobart last year, but retired, citing electronics issues. Stephanie is tag-teaming with husband Stephen, who is skipper for this race.
