Built in 1981 for Victorian Ron White who died in 2012, Shane Kearns bought the former Shenandoah II after finding the yacht in a bad state after it nearly sank in Queensland last year. He lovingly restored her to such a point she is now unrecognisable, including a paint job you can see your reflection in. He completed the task just in time for the Rolex Sydney Hobart and Quikpoint Azzurro finished a respectable 33rd overall, seventh in Division, fourth in the Veterans 30 Year, sixth in the Veterans 20 Year and third in ORCi Division 4. Kearns, who has not skippered a yacht in this race for some years, would be happy to see windier weather thrown into the mix to help his yacht to a good result.
