Built for Australia’s Admiral’s Cup defence, Wild Oats X has subsequently enjoyed considerable success, including line honours win in the Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race (2009, 2007 and 2005), first in the 2008 Audi Sydney Harbour Regatta IRCA, second in the 2004 Maxi Worlds, overall victory at Hamilton Island Race Week 2005, and the 2005 and 2006 Pittwater to Coffs Harbour races. A full re-fit of this 66- footer was undertaken in 2009 that included a new mast and new sail plan. Iain Murray will skipper this boat north this year as Mark Richards will be at the helm of bigger sister Wild Oats XI in a tight three way battle for line honours glory with Investec LOYAL and Lahana.
