Profile
Sydney based Ian Sanford is gearing up for his first ocean race with Tartan while the boat is making a return to ocean racing almost a decade after retiring from the storm swept 1998 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race along with more than 60% of the fleet.
Sanford is well prepared for his ‘delivery trip to his holiday in Queensland’ and with a new sail wardrobe and a crew full of 12, 14 and 16 foot skiff sailors, Sanford is hoping for a long spinnaker run north. Tartan will pass through the finish line at Southport and continue onto Mackay, launching pad to Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, as one of a small fleet contesting the 898 nautical mile Audi Sydney Mackay Yacht Race.
