One of the many 2005 Rolex Sydney Hobart success stories was the addition of Google Earth to the race website and, for the first time, those following the Sydney Gold Coast will be able to enjoy the same amazing features as the yachts head north to Southport following the 1.00pm start this Saturday, 1 April.

As well as 'Yacht Tracker', which allows users to follow the fleet's progress on a one dimensional map, the site will feature Google Earth, an interface to the planet which combines satellite imagery with a model that can be zoomed, spun and tilted.

Those following the Sydney Gold Coast fleet north will be able to watch the events on the water unfolding on satellite photographs of the race course, and still have yacht positions and standings updated every ten minutes.

Information on how to set up a link to Google Earth may be found in the Yacht Tracker page of the race website - http://goldcoast.cyca.com.au
