Sean Langman's 66-footer Grundig has taken line honours in the 18th annual Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race for the second time.

After a long spinnaker ride north from Sydney Harbour after yesterday's 1.00pm start, the Sydney yacht crossed the finish line at 18:13:33 this evening.

It was a quiet affair when they berthed at Southport Yacht Club because unlike most of the previous line honours winners that carry up to 20 crew a piece, Grundig sailed with only six - and they worked hard.

This is Sean Langman's second line honours win in this race, his favourite race he admitted tonight on the dock.

"I've only missed a couple of Sydney Gold Coast Races," he said. "I've sailed on the smallest boat and the biggest and it's a fantastic race either way."

He is now hoping for the breeze to fade to give him a chance at a divisional win or placing.

Ludde Ingvall's Luna Park Sydney is just a couple of miles from the finish and is cruising along doing 9 knots of boat speed while Andrew Short Marine Djuice is a further 40 nautical miles back.
