    Victorian yacht Living Doll (Michael Hiatt) has today been declared the IRC overall winner of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s 26th Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race, while Loki (Stephen Ainsworth), last year’s winner, is second and Ragamuffin (Syd Fischer) third.

    Yachts Slowly Trickling Home in Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race

    This morning at 7.30am, only 14 yachts had finished the 26th Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race this morning, but the slow trickle effect is taking place, as at least 16 yachts will follow one after the other until around 1.00pm, with a break before the smaller yachts in the fleet start arriving at Southport from 4.00pm onwards.

    Stephen Ainsworth and his Loki crew became the third finishers in the slow-going 26th Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race this afternoon, when they crossed the Main Beach finish line off Southport at 1.34.06pm after two days, 34min 06sec at sea.

    With little breeze to propel them towards the finish line, the bulk of the fleet racing in the annual Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race have had their worst nightmares realised, as they ‘sit’ dead in the water at South Solitary Island (Coffs Harbour) in what the sailors call a ‘parking lot’, waiting for a decent breeze to fill sails again and allow the crews to head for Southport where the race officially concludes.
