Bruce Taylor returns to reclaim Chutzpah's Noakes Sydney Gold Coast crown

Bruce Taylor returns to the Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race with his Caprice 40, Chutzpah.

Chutzpah won overall honours in the 2018 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast, delivering Bruce his biggest triumph after being the "bridesmaid" in the Rolex Sydney Hobart many times.

Despite some early skepticism, Bruce has grown particularly fond of the 384 nautical mile trip north.

"You never stop learning in this race. You don't set it and forget it, it's changing constantly," he said.

"That narrow band is the real challenge. You stick your nose out 200 metres too far and you'll start going backwards.

"If you get right up on the beach at the right time, you can get some wonderful wind. But if you stay there too long you'll get becalmed when the sun comes up.

"It's an intriguing race, rather than a demanding race."
