The crews are steaming in towards Gold Coast and preparing for the official awards presentation ceremony

The Noakes Sydney Gold Coast fleet is finishing fast with just over two dozen boats still to finish as of early Tuesday morning.

It’s proven an incredibly busy period for finishing partners Southport Yacht Club, with 50 boats coming in over the past 24 hours, including 2019 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast line-honours champions Wild Oats X. It was quite the celebration for their skipper Mark Richards, who also registered a birthday during the trip.

The battle for other positional and divisional accolades continue, with a number of boats already celebrating strong performances. Barry Cuneo’s Envy Scooters, David Suttie’s Pekljus and Mark Griffth’s Showtime are just a few of the potential award recipients at tomorrow’s official 2019 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast Prize Giving.

Just three boats have been forced to retire during the 2019 Noakes Sydney Gold Coast – Carrera S (time constraints), Reve (steering damage) and Supernova (broken rudder bearing). All crew are fine, with the later two already in port.
